Common Greek Words

OK; now I know this is super-random.. but nothing wrong with some randomness every now and then. So here you go! I’ve been playing a particular word-game over the past couple of days: matching common Greek words with their definitions, and will share some of the fun I’ve had with you here. First, I will give you a few words with their correct meanings; and secondly, I will let you match some yourself. Enjoy!

  1. pragmatic: pertaining to a practical point of view or practical considerations
  2. auspicious: promising success, favored by fortune; prosperous
  3. plethora: overabundance, excess
  4. lethargic: drowsy and sluggish
  5. gullible: easily deceived or cheated
  6. erudite: characterized by great knowledge; learned or scholarly
  7. eclectic: selecting from various sources or made up of what is selected from different sources
  8. obsequious: characterized by or showing servile complaisance or deference; fawning, servilely compliant or deferential
  9. refute: to prove to be false or erroneous, as an opinion or charge
  10. lucid: easily understood; completely intelligible or comprehensible

    Is there a way of seeing the RESULTS?
    This is not to say I am ignorant of the answers; but surely it would be wise to let whoever decides to vote know whether he/she was right.
